Solar panels have no moving parts, but they do need an occasional clean. Dust, bird droppings and harmattan film can shave a noticeable slice off daily output.
A safe routine
- Clean early morning or late evening when panels are cool
- Use soft water and a soft brush or microfibre cloth
- Skip harsh detergents and never use abrasive pads
- Stay off the roof — clean from the ground with an extension pole where possible
A light rinse every few weeks during harmattan often recovers more output than people expect.
Let the data tell you
If your monitoring shows yield drifting down on clear days, dirt is the usual culprit. Our maintenance plans include scheduled cleaning so you never have to track it yourself.
